Social Media Campaigns

Project Overview

As the social media manager for the Central High School Foundation, Josh decides the social media plans and schedule. Balancing alumni news, student achievements, impact stories, and more, sometimes the schedule fluctuates a lot. However in general, there is usually at least one social media campaign going on at any given time while planning for the next one.

Josh has one large social media campaign each May that he is in charge of, which is to prepare for OmahaGives. OmahaGives is a 24 hour online day of giving held annually by the Omaha Community Foundation. Josh’s role is to come up with a theme, create a logo for that theme, gather quotes and pictures of impact stories, write social media posts, determine the posting schedule, creating save the date invitations, sending reminder emails, and sharing giving updates on the day of the event. The previous themes have been “Eagles Soar Higher” (2016), “Extending Our Wings” (2017), and “Invest in the Nest” (2018).

During 2018 OmahaGives, Josh had an Instagram countdown where each day corresponded to a number with a fun statistic or fun fact. It was a very successful campaign strategy. See below right for an example of one of those posts.

Another campaign Josh helped with was the Scoops of Support day at eCreamery Ice Cream and Gelato in Dundee, Nebraska. Josh designed a large Coroplast frame that could be used to take pictures with at the Scoops of Support Day as well as the graduation ceremony. Click here to view that social media frame.

Under Josh’s direction, the social media channels for the Central High School Foundation have expanded greatly. The number of Facebook fans has grown from about 1,800 in November 2015 when he started to 3,300 in 2019. The same stories apply to Twitter (from ~350 followers to 1,100 followers in 2019) and Instagram (~200 followers to 1,100 followers in 2019).
